What is Person-centered Care?
Person-centered means individuals receiving care have a voice and a choice in their surroundings, activities, and daily schedules. Individuals are not only the recipients of care but also the shapers of that care. The model is relationship-based, helping staff maintain strong interpersonal relationships which nurture the health and well-being of elders. Training in person-centered care has begun in some parts of Loretto, and eventually everyone will have the opportunity to learn about this model as it spreads throughout all of our organization in the next 12-18 months.
