Frequently Asked Questions

Listed here are some of the most common questions Loretto staff are asked. We hope this helps answer some of your questions. If you have a question that is not answered here, please phone us at 315-469-1991 or complete the form under the contact section of the Loretto website.

Q. How is Loretto different from other long term care providers and nursing homes?

A. Loretto is a system of services. It's much more than just a nursing home. Individuals can receive services in their own home or in a supportive housing setting. Loretto also is the only organization in Central New York that offers PACE, the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. PACE CNY is based on a nationally recognized model, offering frail older adults a level of services traditionally found in a skilled nursing environment. An Admissions Representative is available to meet with you to assist in determining the best level of care.

Q. How will I know what level of care is most appropriate?

A. An Admissions Representative will meet with you to discuss the various levels of care. Tours of our programs are also available. The Admissions Representative will make arrangements for a thorough medical assessment to be completed by our Admissions Nurse to identify the individuals specific needs.

Q. If I'm interested in a residential setting, how long does it take to arrange to move in?

A. Many variables influence a move in date, including an individual's medical needs and financial circumstances. Some individuals can move in immediately, with others it may take as long as two weeks.

Q. How can I be sure of the quality of Loretto's Programs?

A. Loretto is a not for profit voluntary organization that embraces a mission of services to it's community. Loretto's long history and broad scope enables it to offer care by a skilled, professional staff of the highest caliber.
All of Loretto's programs are regulated by New York State, which conducts annual surveys and inspections. Inspection results can be found at each site. Information can also be found at the Nursing Home Compare website, www.nursinghomecompare.org

Q. What will happen to my family member or friend if his/her health starts to fail and he/she needs more intensive care?

A. Loretto is dedicated to providing quality, customized care for the frail elderly at all different levels. Because our staff works closely with people we serve, building a relationship with them day-to-day, we are able to adjust their level of care as needed. We also encourage family and friends to address any concerns they have with staff to ensure their own peace of mind as well.

Q. Can you tell me approximately how much it costs to use Loretto's services?

A. Loretto offers a full range of continuing care services targeted toward older adults. For specific program costs, contact a Loretto Admissions Representative at 315-469-1991.
