Infinite Light Yoga will host Central New York’s fourth annual Yoga Awareness Day on Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 10 AM to 4 PM in the Cunningham Auditorium of the Loretto Health and Rehabilitation Center located at 700 East Brighton Avenue in Syracuse, NY. Yoga Awareness Day is free and open to the public.

This year’s Yoga Awareness Day will feature ongoing introductory classes every hour as well as the following schedule of specialized classes and workshops held simultaneously in Loretto’s Rhea Eckel Clark Interfaith Chapel, adjacent to the Cunningham Auditorium:

  • 10 AM – Yoga for Seniors
  • 11 AM – Intro to Flow Yoga
  • 12 Noon – Children’s Yoga
  • 1 PM – Adapting Yoga for Physical Rehabilitation
  • 1:30 PM – Yoga for Healthy Backs
  • 2 PM - Gentle Yoga for Bodies with Limitations
  • 3 PM – Yoga for Stress Reduction

“If you’ve never tried yoga or are hesitant to try it in a gym, health club or studio, then Yoga Awareness Day is for you,” says Tony Riposo, founder of Infinite Light Yoga. “Yoga can help you feel better in your body and enjoy life more fully. Come try a free class or workshop, and you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of the many benefits of yoga.”

The staff at Loretto agrees. Brenda McCutcheon, corporate director for elder life and spirituality at Loretto, says, “We’re so pleased to partner with Infinite Light Yoga to host Yoga Awareness Day for the fourth year in a row. The practice of yoga is a perfect fit for Loretto where we care for and nourish the minds, bodies and spirits of our elders, staff and community.”

The goal of Yoga Awareness Day is to dispel the myth that yoga is too difficult for everyday people by providing a safe, loving and centralized place where anyone, regardless of age, ability or physical condition can come learn, enjoy and practice yoga together in a group setting.

Chairs will be available for anyone unable or reluctant to get down on the floor. Wheelchairs are welcome.
